Gucci's 100 year birthday celebration went off with one hell of a bang.
The old school runway show kicked off with song "Gucci Gang" by Lil Pump and spanned the generations of influences touching on the brands heritage. From the outset Alessandro Michele re examined the houses history reprising their best hits such as Tom Ford's infamous red velvet tux from 1996.
To everyones surprise and delight, we saw a small collaboration with Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia. The runway showcased Balenciaga's iconic shapes and symbols including Demna's assertive tailoring and pieces from the 2017 spandex collection.
“I told him I wanted to play with styles belonging to another house,” says Michele of his initial conversations with friend Gvasalia.
Copious amounts of glitter and rhinestones coupled with classic tailoring made for one hell of an anniversary collections. We can't wait to get our paws on these pieces.
