AFTERPAY AUSTRALIAN FASHION WEEK- FIRST NATIONS FASHION + DESIGN

The First Nations Fashion designs make history at AfterPay Australian Fashion Week.

For the first time in it's history, AfterPay Australian Fashion Week opened with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony performed by the Gadigal people. This occasion marked the first runway show featuring only First Nations talent: on the catwalk, making the clothes, and behind the scenes.

"Our team is standing on the shoulders of many that have gone before us in building up the industry," said First Nations Fashion and Design (FNFD) founder Ms Lee.

FNFD's work focuses on creating ongoing access to opportunities, skill development, and industry engagement. Working towards a self-sustaining ecosystem of Aboriginal fashion designers First Nations Fashion and Design aim to ensure the preservation of our Aboriginal + Torres Strait Island culture through fashion.
